Herding Whistle Commands

Before using a whistle with a herding dog it is recommended that consistent commands can be produced so as to avoid confusing the dog. Listening to a recording of the herding commands is helpful as a reference to ensure the "vital" control tones are correctly learned.

This audio clip contains Robin's whistles for the herding commands which must be mutually understood by dog and handler:

Right = Away:

Left = Come Bye:

Stop = Lie Down:

Move straight forward = Walk Up:

Steady, Slow down, Take Time:

Recall:

Look Back:

Big Away:

Short Away:

Big Come Bye:

Short Come Bye:
