Sleet's Puppies - Ross

Updates:

March 1st, 2011

Just thought I'd give you an update from AZ on Ross and Rory.

Ross is doing great and is a wonderful pup. Fabulous personality, fantastic coordination and a real pleasure to work with. He endears himself to all.

Steve took him to a 3 day herding clinic not long ago. He was pleased with Ross' progress. Wish we had more time to really get him out more but we continue to do herding whenever we can so we'll get there. Dotty sent an email on Buster and Hula doing so well at a recent trial. Wow, I'm really impressed that a pup went so far at a trial!!! And Buster got his championship, etc. really awesome.

Ross is in a jumpers class and a contact class in agility training. I've entered him in two trials for only three runs next month. He still needs to do better in weaves and is not finished his contact training so I'm taking it slow so that the foundation work can really set in.

On to Rory. Steve competed with Rory in an AKC trial two weeks ago. Rory got his intermediate sheep title and placed 3rd. He needs one more leg in intermediate ducks but did not qualify either day. The weather was really awful - blowing dust so that you couldn't even see, then cold wind, rain, etc.

We have agility trials coming up this weekend so we'll be busy. People remark how fast Rory is even tho he is nine. While he is not always perfect he does always give me 110 percent on every run. He loves speed so he does make mistakes. He is doing great. Both dogs have outstanding personalities - what more could a person ask for. Thanks for the two very good breedings you have done. I love those dogs.

Regards,
Lynne

The last two weekends Ross was on sheep early in the morning at a friend's place.  She is more experienced and handled Ross, who did quite well.  He was always mentally connected with her and stayed out (only dove in about 2 times each session.)  Earlier in the summer he was with Molly Wisecarver while we were out of town.  She started him on sheep and she said she liked him.  Plan to get back to her place when it cools down a bit.

As for agility, he is enrolled in two evening classes this summer.  Both are foundation classes and while, he does get a little unfocused at times, I see a lot of progress all the time.  He learns things quickly and he is learning a lot.  I really like his very good coordination.  He has a lot of speed as well.

He has also learned to swim in the pool and now loves it. He is smart and so well coordinated.  And so loving.

Best wishes from AZ,
Lynne Kollar
